Dr Katherine Daniell

Dr Katherine Daniell coordinates Australia’s involvement in the PACE-Net EU project on strengthening bi-regional dialogue on science and technology between Europe and the Pacific. She also works in the HC Coombs Policy Forum at Crawford School of Public Policy on a range of Australian Public Service - ANU cooperation projects. She was chair of the scientific programme for the recent Engineers Australia ‘Practical Responses to Climate Change’ conference on the theme Water and Climate: Policy Implementation Challenges, and is a co-convenor of the French-Australian Water and Land Management Initiative. She also teaches executive development courses for the Australian National Institute for Public Policy (ANIPP) on multi-level governance.

Paul Harris

Paul Harris was the Program leader and Deputy Director of the HC Coombs Policy Forum in Crawford School of Public Policy at the ANU and a Special Advisor to the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO), Australia’s national science agency until his appointment as Counsellor, Education & Science, at the Australian Embassy in Japan. Paul remains a Visiting Fellow with Crawford School of Public Policy.

Prior to this, Paul was General Manager of CSIRO’s Government and International Engagement group and a Visiting Fellow at the ANU Centre for Policy Innovation.

Dr Mark Matthews

Dr Mark Matthews is an Adjunct Associate Professor at Crawford School of Public Policy. He is a public policy consultant with particular expertise in the nexus between science and innovation policy and the management of uncertainty and risk in governance. He is currently based in Oxford writing a book for Routledge on how more effective approaches to coping with uncertainty and risk, can reduce the cost of formulating policy and delivering public services. Previous roles have included academic research positions in the UK, working as a management consultant, running a science diplomacy unit jointly funded by the Australian Government and the European Commission, and the inaugural Executive Director of the Australian Government-funded HC Coombs Policy Forum (based at the Crawford School). His major qualifications include a B.A. (Hons) in Geography, an MSc. in Science, Technology and Industrialisation and a Doctorate (D.Phil) in Science and Technology Policy, all from the University of Sussex, UK.
