A record-breaking 290 Crawford School graduate coursework students will receive their awards at this week’s graduation ceremonies, with 12 more to receive their PhDs.

Crawford School’s Director of Education Professor Trevor Breusch paid tribute to all of the graduands taking part in Friday’s ceremony at Llewellyn Hall.

“We congratulate all of the students graduating this week. Their special day is richly deserved, and the culmination of years of study, hard work and dedication,” he said.

“Graduate study is a significant commitment. For many of our students that has meant leaving full-time employment, or moving here from overseas. But the reward for that commitment comes from gaining new skills, an in-depth understanding of the issues they studied and the opportunity to test and develop ideas with some of the world’s sharpest intellects.”

Breusch added that although Friday marks the end of the students’ formal time at the University, it should not be the end of their engagement with the School.

“Learning is a two-way activity. We hope that they’ve benefitted from their time with us, just as we learn from those who come to us as students – it’s part of what builds the community at Crawford School.

“We also hope that they forge a lifelong relationship with the School and keep in touch through the alumni program. So many Crawford graduates have gone on to positions of significance and influence around the world, and I’ve no doubt that many of Friday’s graduates will do the same.  Everyone at Crawford wishes them the best, and looks forward to hearing of their successes in the years to come.”

The students will graduate as part of the College of Asia and the Pacific graduation ceremony starting at 10am on Friday. The ceremony will see 12 Crawford School students awarded the degree of Doctor of Philosophy. They are:
